Amlodipine
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain (angina). It relaxes blood vessels so the heart does not have to pump as hard.
Uses & Indications
- Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension)

Drug Interactions
- Simvastatin — amlodipine increases simvastatin levels (dose limits apply)
- Cyclosporine — increased cyclosporine blood levels
- CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, clarithromycin) — increased amlodipine levels
- Sildenafil (Viagra) — enhanced blood-pressure-lowering effect
Dosage Information
Typical starting dose is 5 mg once daily. May be increased to 10 mg once daily based on response. Can be taken with or without food, at any time of day.
